North Liberty man left children in car during police chase

A North Liberty man has been charged with child endangerment after fleeing police and leaving his 4-year-old and 6-year-old children behind in a car.
According to a Johnson County complaint, at around 4:45 p.m. on Friday, June 1, Tahmir Allen, 27, of North Liberty, was driving in North Liberty despite being barred from doing so. When a Johnson County officer tried to stop the car Allen fled, driving over curbs and not stopping at stop signs.
According to the complaint, Allen then fled on foot and left his children in the car at S Front St. and Birch Ct. They had been riding in the front seat unrestrained.
Allen is charged with two counts of Failure to Secure a Child, two counts of Endangerment and and several other charges. He has been sentenced to one count of Driving While Barred.
