No injuries in an early morning apartment fire on the SE side

CEDAR RAPIDS - Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire an apartment building early Wednesday morning, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived around 4:15 a.m. to discover light smoke coming from the second story of a multifamily building at 504 12th St. SE.
Firefighters evacuated residents from two ground floor apartments, and then moved to the second floor. There they found a small fire and extinguished it quickly with a small amount of water.
They continued to search the second floor to ensure everyone was out. According to the news release, occupants were displaced but did not requirement medical treatment, and smoke alarms were not working.
