Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in SW Cedar Rapids accident

UPDATE: According to a release on April 16, the 2000 Yamaha motorcycle was operated by Leon T. Sheley, 52, of Cedar Rapids, who was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with serious injuries. An update on his condition was not available.
A motorcyclist suffered what are being described as 'serious injuries' after an accident Monday night.
According to a Cedar Rapids Police media release, officers were dispatched at 5:27 p.m. Monday to the scene of a motorcycle accident at the 800 block of 10th Street SW.
The driver of the motorcycle, the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported from the scene to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. After securing the scene and treating the motorcyclist's injuries, to the degree they could, officers remained on scene and continued the investigation, according to the release.
No other information was released about the identity of the driver.
As this is an ongoing investigation no further information will be released at this time, according to the release.
