Power lines are down after the driver of a motor home lost control and struck a light pole, shearing a fire hydrant and hitting fence in southwest Cedar Rapids on Wednesday morning.
According to a report from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, a 30-foot motor home was traveling on 16th Avenue SW when the driver lost control near Sixth Street SW.
Police closed 16th Avenue because of downed power lines and other debris. The city streets department sent a street sweeper to clean up the roadway, and the road was reopened soon after.
Police did not identify the driver. The incident is under investigation by the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
