Marion man sentenced to 25 years for shooting a man, along with drug, firearm charges

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Marion man was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison for shooting a man in January inside a Hiawatha apartment, along with three other charges for possession of a firearm, drugs and burglary.
Ryan Paul Wilson, 19, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for willful injury with serious injury and felon in possession of a firearm in the shooting of Levi Crinigan on Jan. 17.
A complaint stated Wilson and Crinigan were arguing about social media posts when Wilson pulled out a .380 handgun and shot Crinigan in the stomach. Wilson fled the apartment, Crinigan and a witness told police.
Wilson has previous convictions for arson and criminal mischief, according to court records.
Wilson also was sentenced in a separate cases to five years for third-degree burglary and 25 years for possession with intent to deliver more than 5 grams of methamphetamine.
Sixth Judicial District Judge Mary Chicchelly ran all the sentences concurrently for a total of up to 25 years in prison, in accordance with the plea agreement. Wilson must serve a mandatory minimum of five years of the willful injury sentence before being eligible for parole.
No victim impact statements were made at the hearing.
