Marion man charged with sexual abuse of 12-year-old

A Marion man was arrested Friday on charges that he sexually abused a 12-year-old girl in the parking lot of Westfield Elementary School in Robins.

Wyatt Colburn, 18, is charged with second-degree sexual abuse. According to a criminal complaint, the abuse happened on July 3, when Colburn was 17.

The 12-year-old reported the abuse to her parents the next day, after her parents found Colburn in her bedroom, according to a search warrant filed in the case.

Police found sexually explicit conversations between Colburn and the 12-year-old on Snapchat, which included them discussing the sexual abuse after it happened.

Colburn was taken into custody and had his first appearance in court on Friday. He’s being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
