Marion man arrested after Saturday morning stabbing

A Marion man was arrested Saturday morning after police say he stabbed another man in the shoulder.
Edwin Rolando Ortiz-Arequipa, 33, is charged with willful injury resulting in serious injury. According to a criminal complaint, he stabbed Santos Cardenas Benegas with a kitchen knife, causing Benegas to need stitches in his left shoulder.
Police responded to the stabbing, at a mobile home in the 400 block of Lindale Drive, at 5:09 a.m. Saturday, according to a press release from the Marion Police Department.
Ortiz-Arequipa had fled the scene before police arrived, but was later located and arrested. Police believe the stabbing was targeted and there is no ongoing threat to the public, the release states.
As of Monday morning, Ortiz-Arequipa had not yet appeared in court, and information about his bond was not available.
