Man shot twice in leg in SE Cedar Rapids

A man was shot twice in the leg Monday afternoon in southeast Cedar Rapids, police say.
According to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, officers responded to a report of gunshots at 2:22 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and 15th Street SE, a residential area of the Wellington Heights neighborhood. Callers reporting the shooting said they heard 'at least three shots” fired and one person shot, according to the release.
Officers arriving on the scene found a man with two gunshots to his left leg, according to the release, and he was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
In their investigation, officers located 'evidence of the shooting” in the 1400 block alley between Fifth and Sixth Avenue SE, the release said.
The shooting is under investigation, police said.
