A man was arrested Tuesday morning after a two-hour standoff with police at a Marion apartment building, according to authorities.
Marion police were called at 5:35 a.m. for a burglary in progress in the 1400 block of Meadowview Drive, a police news release states. Nathan William Dampier, 32, broke into an apartment there, police said.
He violated a no-contact order by entering the apartment, police said. He barricaded himself in the unit and refused to comply with officers, who ordered him to exit. After about two hours of negotiations, Dampier exited and was taken into custody at 7:29 a.m., according to the release.
Police said Dampier would be charged with violating a no-contact order and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
