CEDAR RAPIDS — Police arrested a Cedar Rapids man who is accused of stealing tools valued at more than $1,500 from a garage in the 2400 block of Eighth Avenue SW.
Court documents show Dane Edward Rupe, 33, faces charges of second-degree theft, third-degree burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers received report of a burglary just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to the police department.
Police said the person who reported the burglary said a cordless drill, a reciprocating saw, a roofing nail gun, a jigsaw tool and a DeWalt multitool were taken overnight. The tools were specially marked to make them identifiable, according to police.
Through their investigation, police said, Rupe was identified as a suspect.
Police said Rupe was located in the 2400 block of Reynolds Avenue SW, where officers saw him carrying a bag that contained tools.
Officers detained Rupe and said they found the stolen tools as well as drug paraphernalia in his possession.
He was transported to the Linn County Correctional Center.
