MARION — A man was arrested Tuesday after crashing his car in a Marion neighborhood where police say he robbed multiple people at gunpoint.
Ivory Edward Warren III, 47, will be charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, and one count each of driving while revoked, failure to maintain control of a vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a news release from the Marion Police Department.
Marion police officers were called to the 4400 block of Pepperwood Hill Tuesday at 9:04 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery. The victims reported a man had displayed a gun and demanded their money before leaving in a white SUV.
While officers were on their way to respond to the robbery, another 911 call reported a crash involving a white SUV at the intersection of Charter Oak Lane and Northridge Point SE, around the block from where the robbery happened.
Warren was the only occupant of the SUV and he was identified by witnesses as the armed robber. Some of the items stolen during the robbery were recovered from the crash site. Warren was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash, according to the news release.
