Lowden woman hospitalized with serious injuries after rear-ending semi on Highway 151

A Lowden woman has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after she rear-ended a semi-trailer truck on Highway 151 this afternoon.
According to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Shavonna Vick, 42, of Lowden was traveling north on Highway 151 when she rear-ended a 'slower moving semi” that was driven by Iko Ilija, 56, of Oakland Park, Fla.
The emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of the acident, near the intersection of Highway 151 and Linn Grove Road at 3:10 p.m., according to the release.
Vick was transported to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Everyone involved was wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident according to the release.
Vick was also cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance.
In addition to Linn County Sheriff's Deputies, the accident was responded to by Linn County Sheriff's Rescue, Jones County Sheriff's Deputies, Springville Fire, Marion Fire, State DOT and Anamosa Ambulance, according to the release.
