A Lone Tree man faces domestic assault and child endangerment charges after a Johnson County sheriff’s deputy last week responded to a home where authorities say he choked a woman until she nearly lost consciousness, leaving visible injuries on her neck.
Elmer Tovias Valencia Madrigal, 31, faces charges of domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air/blood, an aggravated misdemeanor; child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor; and domestic abuse assault-injury or mental illness, first offense, a serious misdemeanor, according to a sheriff’s news release.
The sheriff’s office responded at 1 a.m. Thursday to a Lone Tree home where the victim told a deputy that Valencia Madrigal had assaulted her by grabbing her neck. A criminal complaint stated that he also forced the victim to the ground and dragged her on the floor.
Valencia Madrigal lived with the victim and their minor children, who were home at the time, according to the sheriff’s office.
Valencia Madrigal was arrested and taken to the Johnson County Jail. Court records show he posted a $5,000 cash-only bail and was released. A judge issued a no-contact order to protect the victim and the children.
