A Linn County jury resumes deliberations 9 a.m. Friday in the kidnapping, sex assault trial of Bryan Roche.
Roche, 22, of Marion, is charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse, attempted murder and willful injury causing serious injury. He is accused of sexually assaulting and stabbing a 20-year-old Cedar Rapids woman while holding her against her will for two hours April 21, 2013. Doctors testified this week the woman had life threatening stab wounds to her neck and abdomen.
The woman testified Tuesday that Roche sexually assaulted her more than once, stabbed her twice and kept her in the apartment for two hours before she could get out and seek help from a neighbor.
Roche, in a police interview played for the jurors Wednesday, confessed to the crime.
