Jury convicts Cedar Rapids man who exploited minors, possessed child porn

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man who sexually exploited two girls and possessed child pornography was convicted by a federal jury Wednesday after a two-and-a-half-day trial.
Nathan Nosley, 30, was convicted of sexual exploitation of children, distribution of child pornography, receipt of child pornography, three counts of possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.
According to testimony, Nosley persuaded, induced and enticed two girls to send him pornographic images of themselves between 2018 and last year.
He also distributed child pornography to others, used cellphone apps to receive child pornography, accessed child pornography with a cellphone and possessed child pornography on a cellphone, memory card and in email.
U.S. District Judge C.J. Williams will set sentencing after a presentencing report is prepared. Nosley faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and possibly up to 150 years in prison, over a $1.7 million fine and five years of supervised release following his prison term.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, the Iowa State Patrol and the Marion Police Department.
The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
