Iowa City woman accused of kicking in door, assaulting two

IOWA CITY -- Divia Carmelita Greer, 22, of Iowa City, has been charged with first-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of assault, according to Johnson County court records.
Iowa City police alleged that on Oct. 4 Greer and an accomplice broke into the victim’s apartment, then assaulted her and her uncle, causing bodily injury. Surveillance video from the Arthur Street apartment showed Greer, also known by a street name of “DaDa,” kicking in the victim’s door. During follow-up interviews, police said Greer confirmed she had a confrontation with the victim regarding the accomplice’s purse.
First-degree burglary is a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years. The assault charges are serious misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in jail or a fine of up to $1,875. The criminal mischief charge is a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison and a $2,560 fine.
