Iowa City police officer on leave after shooting
The shooting Monday morning left one person wounded

IOWA CITY — An Iowa City police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave after a shooting Monday that involved a suicidal subject and resulted in one person being injured.
Officials have not stated whether the person wounded in the officer-involved shooting was the suicidal subject or what happened in the confrontation that led to the officer shooting.
According to a news release from the Iowa City Police Department, officers responded to the 1100 block of Wylde Green Road 8:41 a.m. Monday for a report of an armed suicidal subject.
A police officer, who officials have not identified, discharged a firearm during the interaction with the individual. One person was wounded and is currently hospitalized, the release states.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation will investigate the shooting, and its findings will be reviewed by the Johnson County Attorney’s Office. Additional information won’t be released until the investigation is finished, according to the news release.
