Iowa City police looking for man who had inappropriate interaction with child

Iowa City police are investigating reports of a suspicious male in a maroon vehicle near Rochester Street and Boyd Court.

Police said the man 'had inappropriate verbal interaction with a child, asking if the child had ever seen a man's genitals.” There was no physical contact, they said, and the child left the area immediately.

The incident occurred at about 3 p.m. Monday, according to a news release. The suspect was described as a white male in a maroon sedan.

Police said an investigator has been assigned and would like to speak with any possible witnesses, and obtain any surveillance footage from the area.

The Iowa City Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information, or possible video, is asked to contact Iowa City Police at 319-356-5276.
