The Iowa City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding information about the fatal shooting of a woman in December.
Police found Christine Blount, 38, in the 600 block of S. Dodge Street when they responded to a report Dec. 30 of shots being fired in the area. She had been shot in the head multiple times and was taken to a hospital, where she died.
The Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office determined she died from gunshot wounds and ruled her death as a homicide.
A news release Thursday from Iowa City police states investigators are continuing to investigate the death and are asking that anyone who may have information about Blount’s death to come forward. They’ve also requested that anyone in the area who has a surveillance camera to review footage from between 1 and 4 a.m. Dec. 30.
Anyone with potentially useful footage, or any other information about the shooting, is asked to contact Detective Ryan Wood at RWood@iowa-city.org.
