Iowa City manufactured home fire causes $20,000 in damages

IOWA CITY - Noone was injured Monday evening after a fire caused severe damage to a manufactured home on Laura Drive.

The Iowa City Fire Department says firefighters were dispatched to 1205 Laura Drive #91 at 5:41 p.m. The first unit arrived on scene 8 minutes after the call and these firefighters reported fire and smoke showing from two sides of the manufactured home.

All occupants were evacuated before the arrival of firefighters, and the fire was brought under control 12 minutes after they arrived.

The residence received heavy fire, smoke and water damage. The fire department estimates the total cost to be $20,000 to the residence and its interior content. The cause remains under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Marshal.
