An Iowa City man charged earlier this year with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of minors and released without bail has been arrested again on similar charges.
Jonathan Kiasosa, 19, was arrested in May 2023 on three charges of dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to minors after he used Instagram to send a pornographic video to two 14-year-olds and a 17-year-old, according to criminal complaints. He was released without bail and, in July 2023, pleaded not guilty to the charges, which are still being adjudicated.
In July, he was arrested again on additional charges — three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and two more counts of dissemination and exhibition of obscene materials to minors.
According to criminal complaints, Kiasosa met a 14-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl at Chadek Green Park in Iowa City in May 2023, five days after the initial charges were filed against him. He recorded the girls performing sex acts in the park bathroom, and sent the video to both girls and to other people.
He was also involved a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl between June and December 2023, and had a video on his phone of the girl performing a sex act, according to complaints.
He again was released without bail on the condition that he live with his parents until further order of the court. Last week, he submitted a plea of not guilty to those charges, which are still being adjudicated.
On Thursday, Kiasosa was arrested again on another charge of sexual exploitation of a minor and a charge of harassment. According to criminal complaints, police found two videos on his phone that were taken in June at S.T. Morrison Park in Coralville.
In the videos, Kiasosa is seen engaging in a sex act with a 15-year-old. Police were able to identify the minor, who told them about the sex acts and said she didn’t know Kiasosa was recording them. When she found out, she asked him to delete the video.
Kiasosa had his first appearance on the new charges Thursday and was being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $27,000 bail.
