Iowa City man charged with sexually abusing 9-year-old

IOWA CITY -- An Iowa City man was arrested over the weekend on a sexual abuse charge after police say he sexually abused a 9-year-old child.

Gabriel Elombe Etuma, 21, is charged with second-degree sexual abuse.

The abuse happened Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. in an Iowa City residence, according to the criminal complaint. It was caught by family members who walked in during the abuse and forcibly removed Elombe Etuma, the complaint states. The complaint doesn’t clarify whether the witnesses were family members of Elombe Etuma or the victim.

A no-contact order has been filed on behalf of the victim. Elombe Etuma is being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
