IOWA CITY — An Iowa City man was arrested over the weekend, accused of stabbing a person in the stomach after “an altercation.”
Sean Christopher, 34, is charged with going armed with intent and willful injury causing serious injury.
According to a criminal complaint, Christopher was walking from the bus station Saturday evening and being followed by another person.
Christopher and the other person were having “an altercation,” which continued as they walked to 200 E. College St., where Christopher was seen on video pulling a knife from his bag.
He stabbed the other person in the stomach, causing a wound that may require surgery, the complaint states.
Christopher attempted to walk away, cutting through the Iowa City Public Library, but was recognized by witnesses. The complaint said officers found Christopher in possession of a knife.
Christopher had his first appearance in court Monday and is being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $200,000 cash-only bond. A no-contact order has been filed on behalf of the victim, who was not identified.
