IOWA CITY - An Iowa City man is accused of buying guns for a felon, who is not allowed to possess a firearm.
Brian G. Matthes, 47, bought 'at least four handguns from area businesses” between Jan. 31 and March 16, according to the criminal complaint.
Matthes, police said in the complaint, 'had no intention of keeping the firearms and almost immediately transferred the firearms to an acquaintance, a known felon.”
One of the firearms was recovered, but three are unaccounted for, the complaint states.
Matthes, who was arrested Nov. 21, is charged with transfer of a pistol or revolver to an unauthorized person, a Class D felony.
