UPDATE: A Chicago man was sent to the hospital after the semi-trailer truck he was driving rolled off Interstate 380 Wednesday morning.
According to an Iowa State Patrol minimal crash report, the crash happened at 6:15 a.m. in the merge area in the northbound lanes just north of the Interstate 80-380 interchange. Police said the driver of the semi, 24-year-old Robert Manjarrez, lost control of the truck and trailer when he was merging on to 380.
As a result, the semi rolled with the cab coming to rest on the outside lane and the trailer in the east ditch. Manjarrez, who was wearing his seatbelt, was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by ambulance for evaluation.
The crash backed up traffic on the on-ramp for traffic coming westbound on Interstate 80, as well as northbound traffic on Interstate 380.
