COLUMBUS JUNCTION - An infant injured earlier this month has died at the hospital.
A release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety says four-month-old Marleen Jimenez died Saturday, January 24, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She was being treated for severe head trauma after Columbus Junction police first learned about her injuries on Jan. 19.
Authorities arrested her father, 20-year-old Oscar Jimenez, after searching his home and charged him with one count of multiple acts of child endangerment, a Class B felony.
The Decedent Care Unit at UIHC performed an autopsy on Marleen's body Monday. Investigators are waiting for the results.
Online court records indicate Oscar Jimenez entered a not guilty plea and remains in the Louisa County jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
