A high-speed chase along Interstate 380 ended with driver's vehicle rolling and submerged in water.
According to a release from the Iowa State Patrol, James Miller, 28, of Cedar Rapids was traveling north on I-380 at mile marker 9 just south of the Swisher exit at 9:36 p.m. on September 19.
The state trooper initiated a traffic stop, but Miller failed to stop, and the trooper began pursuing him.
Miller accelerated and got off the interstate at the Swisher exit, turning right on 120th St. NE at a high rate of speed. After driving about 5 miles near the intersection with Ely Road, Miller lost control of his vehicle, rolled and ended up submerged in water.
He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for medical treatment, though the extent of his injuries were not released.
