Highway 30 crash kills 2 in Benton County

Two people were killed and four were transported to area hospitals after a car collided head-on with a semi on Highway 30 early Monday morning.
A car driven by Guetty Otshumbe, 18 of Cedar Rapids, was traveling westbound on Highway 30 approaching 19th Ave. in Benton County around 5:15 a.m. when it crossed the centerline, according to a media release from the Iowa State Patrol.
Jeremie Mvemba, 21 and Michou Mayola, 39, both of Cedar Rapids were killed in the crash.
Otshumbe and Jean-Claude Shako, 45, also of Cedar Rapids, were airlifted the University of Iowa Hospitals. Another passenger, Jeannette Elese, 32 of Cedar Rapids, was transported to St. Luke's.
The driver of the truck, Paul Jarrett, 71 of Waukee, was also injured and was transported to St. Luke's, according to the release.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Iowa DOT's Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Belle Plaine Ambulance, Blairstown Fire and Ambulance, North Benton Ambulance, Keystone First Responders and Van Horne Fire.
The collision remains under investigation.
