Four displaced in Cedar Rapids fire, but no one hurt

Four people were displaced, but no one was injured, when a fire destroyed a Cedar Rapids two condominiums overnight.
Firefighters were called to 4044 and 4048 Water Point Court SW at 2:15 a.m. after residents in the 4044 building called 911 to report a fire. An engine responded from First Avenue and Wiley Boulevard and could see flames from almost a mile away, the fire department reported.
By the time firefighters arrived on the scene, both 4-bedroom condominiums were fully involved with fire. After confirming all of the occupants were out of the buildings, firefighters began attacking the blaze.
In addition to the two condominiums, three vehicles in attached garages and one vehicle in the driveway of one of the condominiums were heavily damaged by the fire. Three nearby condominiums had exposure damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
