CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man who police say robbed a Wendy’s restaurant at gunpoint Tuesday was a former employee of the fast-food chain, a criminal complaint shows.
Jamercion Bush, 34, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree robbery, going armed with intent, being a felon in possession of a firearm and use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime.
According to a criminal complaint, Bush was caught on surveillance video Tuesday morning threatening employees at the Wendy’s at 1316 First Ave. NE with a handgun. He was wearing a mask, but Wendy’s corporate staff told police the suspect looked like a former employee — Bush — although the complaint doesn’t specify where he worked.
Surveillance video from the surrounding area showed Bush running away from the store without his mask. The money bags stolen were found in the area where Bush had been running, the complaint states. The complaint does not say how much money was taken.
Bush had his first appearance in court Thursday on the charges. He was being held on a $35,000 bail.
