Evidence from Cedar Rapids raid may be connected to burglaries in three different areas

A warrant served by Marion investigators Monday morning may have produced evidence connected to burglaries in three different police jurisdictions.

Marion investigators served that warrant at 2833 Third Ave. SE in Cedar Rapids in cooperation with Cedar Rapids police.

Marion Lt. Scott Elam said the Marion burglary case being investigated dates to last fall and involved the theft of construction tools worth thousands of dollars.

Elam said officers believe a number of other items recovered at the duplex may have come from cases under investigation by Cedar Rapids police and the Linn County Sheriff's Office. Investigators at the scene were sorting through the items in a garage to determine if they were linked to a particular case.

Elam said the person named in the warrant has not yet been identified.

In addition to items believed linked to burglaries, police who raided the Cedar Rapids home also found remnants of materials used to manufacture methamphetamine. However, Elam said he didn't believe there was a working meth lab at the home.
