A North Liberty family has requested assistance from the Red Cross after being displaced by a fire at their home Monday morning.
A release from the North Liberty Fire Department said crews were dispatched to a home at 487 Sugar Creek Ln. at 6:07 a.m. Monday.
The first firefighters on scene saw smoke showing from the roof of the house, and the fire -- which was contained to the attic -- was extinguished 72 minutes after firefighters arrived, the release said.
Though the building was occupied at the time, there were no reported injuries.
An estimate of property damage was not yet available Monday morning, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The North Liberty Fire Department was assisted by the Coralville, Solon, and Tiffin Fire Departments, as well as the Johnson County Ambulance Service, the Johnson County Sheriff's Department, Alliant Energy and MidAmerican Energy.
