Earlville woman’s death ruled homicide, investigation ongoing

MANCHESTER — An Earlville woman's death last month has been ruled a homicide.

Associate State Medical Examiner Kelly Kruse said an autopsy determined Amy Mullis, 39, died Nov. 10 from 'sharp force injuries to the torso.'

The investigation into the death is continuing, with agents from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation taking the lead, Delaware County Sheriff John LeClere said Friday.

'We have interviewed a number of Mrs. Mullis' friends and family members, and that's all I can say,' he said.

Deputies were called to the Mullis home in the 1700 block of 255th Avenue, a rural Earlville area northeast of Manchester in northeast Iowa.

Todd Mullis, her husband, called 911 and told authorities his wife's death was 'unattended,' the sheriff's office said in a news release.

The sheriff's office initially reported Amy Mullis had been injured in a fall. The mother of three was pronounced dead at a Manchester hospital.
