Des Moines man charged with sexually abusing child in Cedar Rapids

A Des Moines man was arrested Thursday in Linn County on three charges of second-degree sexual abuse.

Zachary Michael Dye, 31, is accused of sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl multiple times in January while he was staying in Cedar Rapids.

The child reported the abuse to an older brother and then to a parent, and gave the same report when interviewed by a forensic interviewer at a Child Protection Center, according to a criminal complaint.

A warrant for Dye’s arrest was issued June 12 and he was booked into the Linn County Jail. He had his first appearance in court Thursday and is being held on a $100,000 bail. A no-contact order has been filed on behalf of the child.
