Construction worker falls from beam in downtown Cedar Rapids, sustains life-threatening injuries

Police say a construction worker was seriously injured Monday afternoon when he apparently fell from a beam while working at a downtown construction site.
According to Cedar Rapids Public Safety Spokesperson Greg Buelow, emergency personnel responded at about 2:25 p.m. to the 200 block of Second Avenue SE where a person was found lying in an alleyway.
Buelow said the victim is a man who is believed to be in his mid- to late-40s.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to UnityPoint-St. Lukes Hospital where he is being treated for life threatening injures, Buelow said.
