Complaint: Cedar Rapids man attempted to buy car with fake $100 bills

A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Monday after police said he tried to buy a vehicle using fake $100 bills.
Wiston Chery went to Westdale Used Car Superstore at 322 Wiley Boulevard about 6:30 p.m. Monday and tried to buy a vehicle with 70 counterfeit $100 bills, According to the criminal complaint.
Police said the bills clearly were counterfeit because several that were presented had the same serial numbers.
When police arrived, Chery was taken into custody and found in possession of 27 more counterfeit $100 bills. The origin of the fake bills is under investigation, police said.
Chery faces a charge of forgery, a Class D felony.
