A Coggon man was arrested Monday on charges he repeatedly sexually abused a girl when she was between 8 and 10 years old, and that he also sexually abused an adult woman.
Matthew Jason Manos, 39, is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, two counts of lascivious acts with a child and one count each of continuous sexual abuse of a child, third-degree sexual abuse and domestic abuse assault, all felonies. He also was charged with three misdemeanors — lascivious conduct with a minor, dissemination and exhibition of obscene materials to a minor and indecent exposure.
The child told her mother in February, and later told investigators at a child protection center, that Manos sexually abused her multiple times and showed her pornography between September 2021 and February, according to a criminal complaint.
Manos also sexually abused a woman, whom he lived with, while she was sleeping in January, according to a separate criminal complaint. In February, he choked the same woman, causing bruising on her neck, the complaint states.
A warrant for Manos’ arrest was issued in April, and he was booked Monday into the Linn County Jail.
Manos previously was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse in December 2018 after he grabbed his girlfriend in her vehicle and pinned her to her seat, according to a criminal complaint from that case. He pleaded guilty in January 2019 and was required to pay a $65 fine.
