Investigators say a child playing with a lighter is responsible for starting a fire Sunday in a second-floor bathroom of a house at 231 32nd St. NE.
The fire was reported around 7 p.m. Sunday, and crews arrived to find people using a garden hose and fire extinguisher in an attempt to control the flames.
Firefighters said the bathroom and a hallway on the second floor sustained fire damage, with significant smoke damage throughout the second floor.
No one was hurt in the fire, officials said. A cost estimate of damage was not immediately available.
