FLOYD COUNTY, Iowa - A judge has ruled on key information before the trial of the man accused of murdering a 5-year-old nearly a decade ago.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports prosecutors will be able to tell jurors about 35-year-old Casey Frederiksen's child porn collection.
Frederiksen faces first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse charges in connection with the disappearance and death of Evelyn Miller of Floyd in July 2005.
Defense attorneys had asked the judge to limit information about Frederiksen's interest in child pornography, arguing it will taint the jury.
But prosecutors argue Frederiksen's collection of child porn is linked to Miller's death. They argue his attraction to children is relevant, as they believe he sexually abused the five-year-old girl, then killed her.
Frederiksen's trial will take place in Webster City in March after the court granted a change of venue.
