Central City pedestrian dies following accident with a car

According to a news release, The pedestrian has been identified as Jeffrey Alan Scott, 54, of Central City. The driver of the vehicle that struck Scott has been identified as Melinda Kay Lawrence, 59, of Central City.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office has issued a release regarding an accident involving a car and a pedestrian in Central City.

An accident was reported on Thursday August 30, 2018 at 11 p.m. at the intersection of Marion Road and Barber Street in Central City.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office, Central City Ambulance Service, and Central City Fire Department were dispatched and found a male who was unresponsive, and was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the release, the accident was between a car and the pedestrian.

Currently, the name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of their family, and the accident is under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
