A Center Point man is accused of escaping from police custody on Sunday.
According to a Linn County criminal complaint, 33-year-old Joshua J. Scott was arrested for third-offense drunken driving at his Center Point home on Sunday. Police said after being placed in a closed squad car, Scott moved his handcuffed hands from his back to his front, opened the rear passenger door and got out of the squad car.
Scott fled into the woods behind his home on Maplewood Drive before he was caught by police, according to the criminal complaint.
The complaint charges Scott with third-offense drunken driving, escape and interference with official acts.
