Center Point man suffers serious injuries in single motorcycle crash

The Linn County Sheriff's Office, Linn County area rescue, and additional departments and rescue agencies responded to a motorcycle accident with injuries in the area of Paris Road and Valley Farm Road near Central City around 2:25 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel identified Melvin Cary Vavricek, 74, of Center Point as the injured driver of the motorcycle.
According to the release Vavricek had been traveling east bound on Paris Road when he crashed.
Vavricek has been flown to the University of Iowa Hospitals for what is being described as serious injuries.
According to the release, he had no passengers on his motorcycle, and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
