The Cedar River is threatening to rise beyond its banks once again.
The heavy rainfall experienced throughout Eastern Iowa in the last 24 hours has resulted in a Cedar River forecast at Cedar Rapids that currently reaches 14.1 feet in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, September 24.
14 feet is considered moderate flood stage in Cedar Rapids.
Additional rainfall is expected throughout the region today, which could adjust the scope of this river forecast.
The current round of storms comes just weeks after Cedar Rapids faced a flooding scare.
The forecast for that crest in early September hovered around 16 feet, while the city mobilized protections to defend the city from a crest of 18 feet.
