CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested early Friday after police said he had an argument with his 65-year-old father and stabbed him in the stomach.
Cedar Rapids police responded at 3:47 a.m. to 4024 Wilson Ave. SW for a stabbing. Officers found the father, Jonathan Youngbear, with a stab wound to his abdominal area. He was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police said the initial investigation indicates the father was in a verbal argument with his son, Jared Youngbear, 26, when his son stabbed him.
Jared Youngbear was arrested on charges of attempted murder, willful injury and assault — domestic abuse with a weapon causing serious injury.
Jared Youngbear likely will have an initial appearance and be formally charged Saturday after the Linn County Attorney’s Office reviews the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
