Cedar Rapids shooting injures one Saturday afternoon

CEDAR RAPIDS — Police are investigating after a shots-fired incident Saturday injured one in southeast Cedar Rapids.

At 2:34 p.m., police were dispatched to the 800 block of 16th Street SE for a report of shots fired, according to a city public safety news release.

In the 800 block of Camburn Court SE, one block to the west, they found evidence of multiple shots fired but no victim in the area.

Soon after police arrived, a person with a single gunshot wound to the shoulder arrived at a hospital by private vehicle. Authorities said the victim was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department is continuing to investigate, interviewing potential witnesses and working to identify the suspect or suspects involved, the release said.
