A man is accused of leaving two young children alone so he could go buy marijuana.
Cedar Rapids police officers were called to 2624 D. Ave. NW at 2:10 Sunday for a report of two children, ages 2 and 3, wandering near the street naked. Responding officers determined the man who was supposed to be carrying for the children, 22-year-old Markell L. Bivins, had left the children to buy and smoke marijuana.
Police found Bivins a mile away, in the area of the 4400 block of Midway Drive NW. Police said Bivins had marijuana on him when he was located. He was taken into custody and has been charged with two counts of child endangerment and one count of possession of marijuana.
