CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids police are investigating an armed robbery Tuesday morning at a Wendy’s fast-food restaurant that briefly led to security precautions being taken at nearby Coe College, authorities said.
Police were called at 7:28 a.m. to the restaurant at 1316 First Ave. NE, where witnesses reported a person robbed the store with a handgun and fled, according to a Cedar Rapids public safety news release. No arrests had been announced as of Tuesday afternoon.
Coe College initiated security protocols Tuesday morning as a precaution, the news release states, but they since have been lifted.
Police asked that any witnesses or anyone who might have video coverage of the area call the department at (319) 286-5491.
