CEDAR RAPIDS - Police are investigating two shootings that happened Saturday night on the city's west side.
Police said the first shooting happened near Wiley Boulevard and 22nd Avenue SW around 9:30 p.m. Saturday Officers then found a male victim with a gunshot wound at Guppy's on the Go at the corner of Edgewood Road and Johnson Avenue NW. Police said the man drove himself there from the site of the shooting.
The man was taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
The second shooting took place less than two hours later, again on the southwest side. A woman in an apartment at 4008 21st Ave. SW suffered minor injuries in that incident, police said.
Neighbors told KCRG-TV9 they heard at least six shots ring out around 11 p.m. Saturday.
'I was kind of nervous about it because this is about the third or fourth time this has happened since I've lived in this neighborhood,” neighbor Allison See said. 'It does happen pretty frequently.”
Police do not know whether the shootings are connected, and no suspects are in custody. Both shootings are under investigation.
