Cedar Rapids police arrest 16-year-old on attempted murder charge

A Cedar Rapids teenager was arrested Thursday in relation to a shooting on Oct. 9, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Amari McCray, 16, is facing charges of attempted murder, willful injury resulting in serious injury and going armed with intent.
McCray is accused of attempting to kill Yadier Primero-Marquez, 29, of Muscatine. Around 4 p.m. on Oct. 9, police were called to the 2200 block of C Street SW, where they found Primero-Marquez suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to the hospital for life saving treatment.
Following an investigation, McCray was arrested. He is being held in the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center.
