CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man faces multiple charges after leading police on a high-speed chase in southeast Cedar Rapids while driving a stolen vehicle.
Cedar Rapids police attempted to stop the 2008 Jeep driven by Anthony J. McNeese, 35, on Thursday.
McNeese 'accelerated away from the officers,” leading officers on a high-speed chase through residential neighborhoods at speeds reaching roughly 60, according to the criminal complaint.
Police said McNeese also ran several stop signs and accelerated to 100 mph on Otis Road SE.
The chase ended when McNeese drove off the road, causing the Jeep to become airborne before it hit an embankment, the complaint stated.
McNeese bailed out of the Jeep and 'fled on foot but was apprehended and found in possession of drug paraphernalia,” according to the complaint.
McNeese is charged with second-degree theft, attempt to elude, interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as traffic violations.
